The G4 ICARUS Series 2 offers carbon and sulfur determination in solids,  including metals and alloys as well as ores, cements, etc. The combustion analyzer offers an HF induction furnace and HighSense detection for rapid determination.

Due to their impact on the material properties, the need for fast and reliable CS analysis is not limited to iron and steel but also applies to ferrous and non-ferrous metals, their alloys, ceramics, ores, cement, limestone and numerous other inorganic solids. The G4 ICARUS Series 2 is a highly precise lab instrument offers 10 times better signal-to-noise ratio due to the HighSense SO2 detection, which offers the lowest detection limits and an ultra-wide linear dynamic range; this Bruker combustion analyzer also offers a fully automatic cleaning system with vacuum-free dust removal for minimal maintenance. The G4 ICARUS Series 2 delivers accurate results even in grey cast iron, where carbon is unevenly distributed in form of graphite clusters, because it applies a volumetric method – analyzing the entire sample.

Case hardening requires the control of the carbon potential during the carburization process.
